I am building a rig that does not go on the street, and i am thinking i don't need all of these huge wires, and clicker boxes.
Has anyone done this.
Is it too much of a PITA.
All i need to run is head/tail lights, ignition and starter. And a few other gizmoes like electric cutting brakes, and a stareo. (sp?)
Also, can you wire the altenator strait to the battery or do you really need to go throu the "Altenator Regulator."???
Thanks.

it was a major pain in the ass
the only reasonion i did was to keep the stock turn signal switch
and wiper switch
major pain just for that

Keep it simple, use a single wire alternator, basic guages an ignition circuit, a few lighting circuits.
Make sure you use the right amperage rated relays for your lighting and use a bit of over kill on the size of the wire. Use good quality fuse holders, terminal strips and fuse blocks. Wireing an off road rig is a piece of cake, just take your time and plan it out and keep it clean.
BTW don't look at my rig for any examples ! Mine's a mess but someday I plan on gutting it out and rewireing the whole thing. Someday is the key word here.
I've got some good books on wiring race cars and buggies. They can be quite helpful and very informative. You are welcome to borrow them if you want, just let me know.
