searched, most topics are pretty broad and come down to people naming things that would work nice, or turning into 350 swap cooling discussion.
my 79 CJ 258 has about 2 inches between the water pump pulley and the radiator, is there a better cooling fan out there that will fit? im heating up at stops and i figure my little fan's time is up. nowhere near enough room needed for a ford 8c607. (taurus)
what about some other engines mechanical or clutch fan thats bigger, which would fit the jeeps water pump pulley. im thinking bolt on. if there is no such thing - ill just rig a pusher fan from something.

I doubt you'll find a clutch fan that's under 2". When I talked to 2 of the fan clutch manufacturers (Hayden and Flex-a-lite) The shortest one that we could come up with was over 3" long.
You might be able to put in a Spal Dual 11" electric fan, or a 16" high performance fan offset to one side to clear the water pump pulley.

What engine/radiator are you running, that only gets you 2" of clearance? I have 3.25" with the 4.0 and an OEM 3 core radiator.

Thanks for the help in advance ;)

How about the flex fan without a spacer and pull your fan clutch. What is your thernostat temp? Maybe you need a lower temp thermo stat.
Also consider switching to a flow kooler water pump. A cheaper fix is a good radiator flush then follow that with "water wetter" It is coolant additive that will lower your temp by 25-30 degrees, and it only costs $10. Summit racing sells all of this stuff. I just
added the flow cooler, water wetter, and flex fan and removed the fan clutch. Lowered my 350 V8 temp in my CJ5 by 40 degrees.

I would try a shroud. Four Wheel Drive Hardware carries them.

a shroud can make all the difference in the world, i'd suggest that also before anything else.

well, atleast can anyone tell me if the waterpump's bolt pattern is common with many others? ive found an array of mopar big block fans that would fit my measurements and appear to be the same waterpump bolt pattern...
to tell you the truth - for all i know all waterpumps might have the same 4 bolt pattern. but im gonna assume they are slightly different. to make things a PITA :D
