on my 95 sonoma i think my t case is starting to go out. its an NP231C and whats happening is when i start accelerating from a stop in 2wd i hear this rattling and im pretty sure its comin from the t case. i cant hear if it does it when im goin any faster cuz other sounds drown it out. its not the motor mounts/tranny mount cuz i replaced em all a while back and already checked em again. to describe the sound its kind of a metallic rattle but dampened slightly. kind of like a wrench with some duct tape on it rattling when i accelerate. i dont know if that helps at all, but i was searchin around and some guys say the chain might have stretched???? u guys got any ideas?

Sounds like an exhaust leak. If you're 100% sure its the t-case, I hear 231's are really easy to take apart and look at, searching should yield a breakdown diagram (I thought I saw one somewhere)

231's are easy to disassemble & work on, but right now I think it would prob be a waste of time. your chain dosen't move in 2wd & what you describe is not usually a symptom of a streched chain.

I'm willing to bet you have a drive shaft issue. out of round/balance or u-joint. do you have a CV shaft or just the factory slip yoke?
