There are two kinds of people who will read that comic.
a) Those who need no explanation why it's such an outrageous and insulting statement.
b) Those for whom no explanation will suffice.

Oh yeah, Bill Clinton was great for the military. All the ones I know just love how he cut spending on them.

I've been reading Doonesbury for something like 30 years now and I still enjoy it.
But this particular strip pissed me off.
In fact, it was right after the war, when democrats who had been predicting gloom and doom suddenly had to do damage control and first floated that particular bit of bullshit that I realized that those people are so delusional that there really is no getting through to them.

Delusional, that's absolutely perfect. :D
My local paper carries Doonesbury, but it's not in the "comics"
section. It's inside the front page and titled "commentary".
A truly ethical and responsible newspaper would have put doonesbury on the editorial page a long time ago.
There are other strips that are similarly left-leaning but doonesbury is the worst.
I wish Rupert Murdoch would buy a few newspapers.

My paper used to have it in the editorial section then a few months back they moved it right into the middle of the comics.

I read it more as satire...that he's making fun of Clinton's record with the military.
BTW...when did Trudeau start writing Doonesbury again? Thought he retired long ago

I do, too. The "Bill's Boys" POV is a ridicule on Democrats whose partisan "morals" would never let them see past their party's interests and realize the truth.
