IF I come North this summer, this is the run I want to do. I'll know if it's possible within a couple weeks.

My dad's coming out 8/1 for a week. We were thinking about just wheeling local, but how but we do it then. Roll out early Saturday and either get on the trail late Saturday or early Sunday. If I bring the whole family, I might need a seat for my dad or Lujan or even me if they drive:)

Just a thought.

I wanna run it but I'm still saving my pennies to get my front gears. If you guys need anything when you come through this direction, let me know, heck me and my buds might be doing our annual Dusy bike ride that weekend. (of the non-motorized fashion)

it would be nice to get a decent group of toyotas together(parts conglomeration). especially if you guys are up for camping and fishing as well. its 33 miles long so if any of us break were together until the end:D:D

Paul, you can count me in for sure. I may be back east the 3 week fo Aug. but good for the rest of Aug. I have been stocking up on the spare parts. Also got the inverter hooked up for all power tools and by then I hope to have a on board welder. I am sure Crust and RockTaco will be in also!

Hey guys, I was just up there and the dusy trail is still closed. If your planning for the 4th i would check to see if it's open first. It's almost always open in aug. Have fun:confused:

Looks like I'm getting my front gears and now if I can get my toy Trail spare box in good shape (used to run a Chev, not much crosses over) I'm in! Any word yet on what weekend we are looking at? I definately won't be able to make it if it's before August.

I talked to the OHV coordinator this morning he said that they are going to start clearing the trail this weekend. He said that all the other trails in the area are open. He is going to E-mail me next week letting me know if it is open or not. He said they had to run a chainsaw all day over the weekend to clear up Swamp Lake. I would imagine there is alot more trees down on the Dusy.

Not jus the trees but I wonder what kind of shape Thompson's Grade is in? My guess is that there are a few more rocks at the bottom of the hill!

This trail and area is sounding and looking super sick from what I hear and the pics I see. So what is the deal Paul? How many day trip do you want to take? And what time frame are you thinking?

freds40
06-24-2003, 10:51 PM
From most of the locals I hear at least 2 days, 3 for a safety net. I believe it is 32-35 miles long and I've been on my mt. bike over it, I could see a couple of sections that could delay a group significantly.

I ran part of it on the 4th after I came out of Coyote/Red Lake.Im willing to run it any time.Just post up the date.I only live an hour or so away.Thats if you dont mind runnin it with a fullsize truggy. If you are going to run it you should plan on three days so you dont have to rush thru. There is some good trout fishing at most of the lakes on the trail.

SeaBass,

Do you mean that they close the Dusy trail for the Sierra Trek?

I have been planning to go through with a couple other jeeps August 7-9, will this be a problem?
