Had this conversation last night with a group of people at a party and just curious to see if it goes the same way with the folks here.

Mine divorced in 1975 I was 7 at the time.

Yup, sure are. 33 years if I'm remembering right.

Mine divorced when I was 13 years old.

Mine divorced around 80 when I was 5. Dad moved to Tustin CA, then to Littleton CO a couple years later. He broke off contact when I was 11.

I found him a few years ago and since then we've worked thing out. Now I talk to him once a week. We've visited a few times. I stayed at his house on my way to/from TDS in February.

Mom remarried and divorced twice. Dad remarried and has stayed married. I have a 7 year old sister named Annie in CO.

both will soon be pushing 80. I'm moving closer to them.... well moving in with them actually to begin the job of being their care taker.

I see it as an earned role reversal. I'm going to have two big kids to handle over the next many years . :p

Still married after 35 years... Although for over half of that they disagreed on what date they got married. He said August 7, she said August 9. Turns out the License was obtained by dad on the 7th and the ceremony was the 9th. So they celebrate on the 8th... :laughing:

Yep, mine are still together since 1962. :eek: 41 years seems like an eternity to us younger folk. :D

Dad died when I was 13 in 1982. Mom says that once you've had the best there is no substitute. So I guess in a way they are still married.:) They are my role models because of that.

Yes and no... my relationship with my parents sucked when they were married (they divorced when I was 26 or so..) since they split they've both been happier which means they're both much easier to deal with. I actually talk to my mother now, and I really didnt for about 12 years or so. Family is what you make it.

Nope, they separated when I was 22 and divorced a year later.

Funny how many were 'tween the ages of 11-14 when they parted.

They both still see each other, and their new SO's/husband in moms case, and everyone gets along.

Still togehter since 66. I only hope mine will last to, but I got a hunch it will. we been going ten years since I married my high school sweetheart.:)

My dad died in 92 and it was 94 before I found out they had been divorced since 90. I was 21 when they were divorced.

My parents divorced in '79 or '80. Dad married my old babysitter in '85. :rolleyes: They had a daughter in '87, so I have a kid sister.

Mom married someone else in '90.

So yes, my parents are still married. Just not to each other anymore.

Divorced in 86, when I was 5... both remarried, dad is in belguim though and havent talked to him for about 8 years.

They both just retired after working 30 some years at the same place.

Both are blind (Mom totally, Dad legally) and are able to live independantly.

Mine split when i was about 11 too, however my Mum and StepDad have been together for about 23 years.

I'm proud as all hell to let everyone know that you all know that Christine and i have been married now for 12 years, and are stronger than ever (after going through hell!), so our 11 year old (and his 9 year old bro) will not be experiencing divorce at any time in the foreseeable future!!

Nope...got divorced when i was 5 in 1989. Mom remarried...dad tries to be a pimp (it dont work so hot)

They've been hangin in since '62. I think its more a habit than anything. Dad retires July 2nd, Mom has the funeral, planned for July 3rd. :D

Divorced at the age of 10 and been happy since. Both are remarried and finally happy.

Both parents happily married, though my mom is my dad's second wife.

My wife's parents also happily married.

My parents had been married for 37 years, when they died back in 88/89. No idea how they did it. Oh, maybe I do. When my dad was in the USAF, and after he retired, and worked as a Millwright, he spent a lot of time away - so maybe they only spent 25 years together in 37 years. Sure. That matters.

Me, I'm on #2, and Mrs. Bobzooki's on #2, and if we can keep from killing each other, it'll probably last forever.

Yes they still are together after 35 years and going strong.


I have asked a few times how they make it look so easy.

They tell me a strong belief in God and a lot of patients :D

My parents have been married now 33yrs. My grandparents have been married 60 something yrs now. My other grandma lost her husband when my dad was a small child & never remarried. The only one's to divorce in my family is my dad (this is his second marriage) & my brother is on his second marriage also.

Still married after 35 years. They work in the same place and go everywhere together. I have only seen them argue once when I was little. No idea how they do it.

Parents divorced when I was a wee lad. I always lived with my dad. He's been married 4 times and I think my Mom was married 3 times or someshit. Whatever. :shaking: Have lots of ex-step fathers, mother, brothers and sisters and all that shit running around the U.S.

I have seen a trend among couples that stay together - they are often GLUED to each other... WILLINGLY :p

My parents divorced each other when I was 8 ('73 or so). They both got remarried about 6 years later...to each other!!!

The difficulty I have is which anniversary to celebrate, the first marriage, the 2nd marriage or the divorce???? (the answer depends on which parent I ask)

The divorce sucked for me as a kid with my father living 500+ miles away, but things were cool again when they remarried.

My parents got divorced before I could remember and I never see my "father" anymore. My mom remarried an awesome guy when I was 8. They were married until my mom passed away 5 years ago. Luckily he is a cool guy and is an even better father.

Folks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.

My Dad was diagnosed with cancer in '96, but talking with him he said no matter what he would make to his 50th anniversary party. Passed away a month after the party. Still miss him. :(

Not only still together after 54 (55?) years but still going strong. They still go on a lot of trips (travel not drugs ya pevrs :flipoff2: ) together and doing a lot of things I wish I could!

My mom and dad have been married to each other twice. My sister and I are full-blood brother/sister, but from different marriages. My mom has divorced a total of 5 times now, and my dad is on his third marriage (remember twice were to my mom). He's not doing bad, but my mom, sheesh!

Happily married for 34 years. My dad takes care of his honey-do list and my mom has dinner on the table every day when he gets home, laundry done and the house clean.

I only hope I can find someone (I think I have!) that will make me (us) as happy of a family as mine has been.

yep they still are but they should not be they fight all the time. I own a house accross the street from them ( yea I know flame away) but i here them fight all the time. I can not count the number of times my dad has had to sleep on the cot. They need to end it and get on with life. They have been married for 22 years now and they have fought for as long as I can remeber i am 21 now.

Parents seperated before I was born. Never saw my dad. Mom remaried to an asshole. Lasted for 4 years. Now she lives by herself. Dad, who knows, who cares.

Mom died in '95 she and the old man had been married for 43 years then, and been together for at least five more.

The old man is on his third wife, first one three-four years, second forty-three or there abouts, the last one is doing a great job keeping him healthy and happy. I should hope for half as much.

Of course, the old man has only had three jobs. Army, 17 years, Manpower 22 years, lite bulb sales 20 years.

Can't seem to keep a job, nor a wife, eh?

Both of my sisters are divorced, as am I.

Mine separated back in 94... still not "officially" divorced. What a pain in the @ss. It's like 7 years living together = common law marriage, shouldn't 7 years of separation = common law divorce?? Sh*t, I think their still fighting over money (what little or none is left after all of the lawyer fees... I think the amount they are quabbling over is like $10k... I mean come awn now!)

my entire fam on both my mother and fathers sides have never had a divorce.. its a big group to...8 kids (from grandperants) and 26 grand kids (thats my group) and 7 or 8 great grand kids... no divorce in the family tree anywhere on either side

my grandperants where married a day apart from each other and are at 66 years never knowing either couple before hand
my moms folks married in Michigan and my dads in Modesto Cali

my sister was the first to get divorced in this chain...sad cause she was gettin abused ;( and couldnt help it and ive been married for 6 years now...

the reason for this IMO is church and God... both sides of the fam are church goers for as long as I can remember... not crazy passing out revival stuff.. just blue collar sunday church goes with some faith...I ve been blessed with a awsome family
