When turned to start?

Vehicle is my '73 FJ-40, swapped to a 70's Chevy v-8.

More and more, when I turn the key to start, nothing happens. It IS the switch, no doubt.

Instead of going through the hassle of getting a $$$ ignition switch, I just wanna wire up a push-button momentary switch for the starter.

I found one in my pile-o-parts that fits the bill, but it's not very HD.. I could always wire a relay off the switch, but I do like keeping things simple!

It already goes through a reley somewhere:D I use a simple rubber booted push button starter switch, rated at 15/Amp, and it's made for starter aplications;)

Be careful here!

I don't know about your swap, do you? Is the starter on a relay, or wired strait to the ignition? Do you have a fuse inline, or at least a fusible link? If you don't have either, you might want to think about it. Because if you don't and you get a cheap switch and that sucker shorts or locks open, you're going to have a problem.

Don't go cheapee on the starter button. Starters can take a lost of juice to kick the solenoid, you don't want that switch taking a crap on you: short to ground (wire melts, engine fire?), stuck closed (starter cranks until battery dies), stuck open (no start)

Steer clear of the Kragen or Pep Boys special and order a real starter button from Summit.
