Hi everyone. I have a freind with a Toyota Corrola with a 3 wire alternator, and it went out. I picked him up a new one at the junkyard, but instead of three wires the alternator has 4. Can anyone help me with what wire goes where?

Carb or EFI celica?

Sorry, it's a 90' corolla 16 valve EFI four banger. I don't know what the alternator came out of, I pulled it off a shelf cause the case matched and like a dummy didn't check the plug.

each alt will( should) have a diagram on it that tells what is what ign, light, ground, ect so match up the pins and you should be good to go. i have not seen a 4 pin toy alt but i have used the regulator off of one that had 4 pins, it came from a honda. it will work at least it work with one wire like the one that was in there
