I'm helping out a local V8 800 guy with his steering. It has some FUBAR draglink and Tie rod now.

Any beefy TRE's that fit the small taper on the knuckles?
Pitman arm mods? Or just swap with a SII non power pitman arm?

Sorry for the newbie question the 80/800 stuff is very new to me!:flipoff2:

:D :D

You can get the ball thingy out of the pitman arm with a grinder and a BFH. Once you get it out there's a tapered hole staring at you. On my '70 I'm running the draglink off a new Superduty Ford. The tapered fit isn't perfect but it works ok for now. I'm sure you could either drill the hole for more taper of dig around until you find a TRE that fits well. Good Luck

Look for beefy early CJ TRE's Cj2,3,early 5 all use the same front end and closed knuckles as the scout 800. He'll be better off swapping out the D27 with a D44 from a ss2 though. Even in my little Willys, I've broken 2 D25/27 housings.

ITs best to go with a Scout II axle up front (Even the 72-73 Open KNuckle D30s are better than any closed knuckle crap he has stock). This will also allow you to run a seperate draglink/tierod setup. As for TREs, I've found some 1-ton chevy ends that have the same taper as the Scout II stuff.

Got some part numbers on those 1-ton Chevy TRE's?
