I'm interested in putting a 383 in my 88 K5 but I don't want to get rid of the fuel injection. I was wondering if anyone had done this and if anyone could point me in a direction where I could find out? :usa:

it has been done easily....just keep the o2 sensor so the injection dont run rich......pretty straight forward......just put your injection set up on the 383 and tune it up all done.....

December issue of Petersens 4x4 has some good stuff on this and who to talk to.

KacksterK5, The 5.7L TBI motors run very lean to begin with, it will not work with the added displacement, it will be much too lean. You will have to run the 454 injectors. Your best bet is to talk to TurboCity, they can set you straight on this matter.

I run one in my jeep for awhile. Used a 350 tbi with injectors from a crossfire setup with the fuelpressure turned up some. Other tan that everything else stock hardware. Just make sure you use acam ground for the injection to get the right vaccum levels.

I haven't heard of crossfire injectors before. Do you know how many pounds they pushed. Also did you have to do any computer work?

I've seen a 400 short block used under a stock 350 TBI setup and it ran fine. Great actually. No mods. I've also heard plenty of people say you have to do a computer program change. But, maybe those people were told this by the people who make a living doing program changes. Not knocking anyone, but I'd try it stock and see before spending the $$$. Seems to me the computer could make up for some extra cubes since the TBI system is closed loop. The comment on keeping the cam reasonable is important. The cam mfrs. have grinds just for your setup. I have a Comp cam in a TBI 350 that made a great improvement.
