What do you guys recommend for a free FTP download?

What should I AVOID?

WS_FTP is easy to use but doens't hae as much features as Cute FTP. I've used WS_FTP for years though on all the sites I've made.

I need something to upload file TO my webhost.

I've used Leap FTP for a couple of years and I really like it.
One cool feature is if there's a FTP address posted on a web page and you have Leap FTP open just right click and copy the link and it will automatically get loaded into Leap.

I use (and love) something called FTP_Explorer. It's windows-based (not text) and is slicker than batshit...

I'll second Smart FTP. Works great!

I used lots over the years, and I think Cute FTP is the best.

I use both WS_FTP and PuTTY. PuTTY is nice because it's several small independent EXE programs, they fit on floppies, you can transport them and use them right from the floppy (so you don't have to keep downloading and installing FTP programs on your friends/work/parents computer).

The Whole PuTTY set is SFTP, SSH, and a few other useful tools. I like the SSH program the most (nice graphic interface, well done). SFTP is powerful (and secure!!!), but command-line based.

WS_FTP Pro for me as well on the PC, But REALLY like Fetch on the Macintosh platform the best.
