About to fix my anti-wrap bar (going to ladder type) for the front and wanted to know if it is better to have the shackle "hanging" or "sitting on top" of the crossmember? I hear 90 degrees at static position is also optimal, is this correct? I am going to use heims on the axle side and on the opposite side where the bar connects to the shackle. And probably an old YJ spring bushing on the shackle/crossmember mount. As of right now, the center distance is only going to be around 14" since this will be in the front. See anything wrong?

Why don't you run a bar toward the back instead of the front? I have one on the rear of my truck and the force it transfers is incredible. My bars are about three feet long and I can feel the rear end rise when I accelerate. I also have a friend who tied the two bars together about two feet in fornt of the axle and it bent the top tube right after they tied together. It was 1 5/8 pipe in a 4 cyl. toyota. If you run the bar toward the rear, it will cause the front end to crouch a bit under acceleration instead of making it rise. I also used toyota spring bushings at all four points of attachment. Where the traction bar attaches to the shackle I used a 1" id tractor heim joint and slid the spring bushings inside of it so the axle could articulate and still be cushioned. Its my experience that its best to use bushings where you can. Good luck.

if the shackle end is behind the frontend then the mount should be above it.

Both work the same so it comes down to clearence. Clearence between the bar and whats above it and below it so if it is pushing up or pulling up the bar works the same. So mount it how it works best for you because it will work the same either way.

By having the bar end of the shackle above the fixed end
of the shackle, the shackle more closely follows the arc
travel of the track bar. When the shackle is flipped the
other way the shackle and bar angle don't stay as constant
and the shackle tends to unfold. With a lot of travel, wrong
shackle angle, or shorty shackle this may cause the system
to bind under droop and bend the track bar or break something.

you want the bar to be pulling away fromt the mount no matter where you mount it. not pushing towards the mount. in the rear with the mount infront of the rearend you want the mount below the bar. the rotation of the rearend that causes wrap will pull. if you mount it the other way it does not work as effectivley. just make a mock up and play with it. you'll see what i am talking about.

My front end is experiencing axle-wrap under braking making the front end want to twist forward (i.e: tie rod goes down). I should have the shackle above the crossmember, or at least with the fixed end below the bar/shackle end? This will cause a pulling on the crossmember which is what I want correct? 90 degrees on the shackle at static position sound good?
