Anybody know where I can post a for sale for a Cat 3208 engine with an Allison 540 4 speed automatic tranny? Believe it or nuts this engine and tranny were going to go in a 74 FJ55, but I just could not for the life of me get the steering to clear. Yeah I know about hydralic, but, not self centering, which would be too scary for this " tow rig". It was a nice thought with 300 HP and 1400 lb ft of torque............. I can make it fit I just can't steer it on the road so it's for sale. Again anybody know where I can post this Monster? Thanks, Kerry

What type of steering would not fit? What about Scout box? I'v seen hydraulic with coil-over steering stabilizer so it will self center.

try searching the web for Diesel Repower, or Cummins repower. There are a few sites that deal striclty with repowering trucks using Cummins or such engines... may be a good place to post the Cat. Good luck.

You have to realize that this Cat engine is "very" large . There would have been major mods to firewall, inner fenders, as well as a slight bulge in hood to accomadate the innercooler, etc.. Not to mention the beefing up the suspention,etc. to support 1200lbs. of engine. This was going to be a major undertaking.........but there was nowhere left to route steering once the engine was in place!!!!! Kerry
