I just read on another forum (http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=127) that there is a memorial run for Tonie this weekend (21st).
For those of you who don't know about Tonie (IE, outside So Cal), she was an very nice (if slightly nutty) old (95) lady who lived at the far end of the Last Chance Canyon run in CA. She's lived in the middle of the remote desert, 8 miles from the road, 20 miles from town, for 40 years selling maps to the Burro Schmidt tunnel and surrounding area.
GODDAMN!! She was as much of a "must see" as anything else out there!! Last Chance won't be the same run without her :(
