Talked my boss into buying a Hobart Handler 135! Get this, we were paying $65 a shot to have a piece of .25" SS rod welded! One of the guys here has already fixed 3 of 'em so it should pay for itself in the next 2 months.
Any tips on setting it up or how to get good enough penetration to weld my cage in?
Chief yelling alot

Yup don't waste the time, 175 min. Better ask around on the SS welding also.

Your going to need a bottle of tri mix to do stainless.

I ain't worried 'bout stainless. Guy here at work does that. I just want to practice on the damn thing while I'm babysitting all my operators...way too much time on my hands at work! I know it ain't the welder of choice for welding a cage in, but it's all I have access to and if I don't do it, I'll have to hire it out to Damian. Maybe he can spare some tubing scraps for me to play with...;)

135 is fine for .120 wall tube?? What are you guys welder bigots :flipoff2: Sure a 170A would be nice, but not a must for a cage???
I can get decent penetration up to 3/16" with my 135A miller. anything thicker and I use the buzz box
