Hey, I can not do searches for stuff that have more than four letters, like Dana 300, or YJ, or SYE, or ARB, or even F**C! :D :D

Any way around this, or is this just a problem with the new board setup? I appreciate your help, thanks!

Try doing a search for a D60!

The search term you specified (d60) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

I noticed too. Try Dana 60 of course that doesn't help on D60 posts.

Because nobody gives half a sh!t about searching chit-chat. A lot uf us use these forums to research something. So, we plug in FORD 9" and the search engine tells us that the components of the search aren't long enough.

Then we pose the question on the forum and some snot-nosed jerkoff says "Use the search engine, stupid!".

I gotta big flash for ya, pal, most of us would use the search if we could get it to find what we're looking for.

Now, if you have a problem with this post, you email me and we'll discuss it. Understand?

Easy solution:

This is right below where you type in your search criteria:

Basic query: seperate your search terms with spaces.

Advanced query: Join words with AND, OR and NOT to control your search in more detail.
Add asterisks (*) to use wild cards in your search (*bullet* matches vBulletin etc.)

So, to search for D60, type in *D60 or D60*

Works like a charm.

That info will cost each of you one beer.

Mo, I have tried that and it simply does not work, even changing the syntax. For example, try doing a search for *sye (slip yoke eliminator). Evene though there are several postings about SYE's, only one result comes up. Another question is, how come all other boards on the net using vbulletin software are working for any three letter search, and pirate has not worked since the last version update? You can try a search on (argh!) JU, and it will show a bunch of results.

Again, I am not trying to create any problem here to anyone, but this has happened after the last software upgrade for the bulletin board.

This search functionality being lost sucks, because it works for all other boards around the web that I have checked so far, and to our shame, even at JU. Do not start saying "so go back to JU!!:D , I am just saying that Pirate is a great site with more quality in technical aspects and information, but now even though we have the data, we just can not to access it.

Again, it just sucks; perhaps there is a way for the moderators to contact the board provider (vBulletin), and verify how to fix this. Someone here probably knows how to fix this bug.

Try *sye*

And don't forget that these posts are NOT saved forever. They will eventually die if they're not kept current.

Thanks Mo,

It works better. Still, It is a bug that should be fixed. I do not see why we need to change the syntax for our searches so they would work, and it is probably an easy fix or a patch to this version that could simplify this.

Thansk for the tip on using the asteriscs!!!
