Just a suggestion, the yj was doin that a long time ago, we had it in for a tune up and had the carbon deposit cleaned off or something, dont really remember since it was like three years ago, but maybe somethin to look into.

If the idle is way up look for a vaccum leak.

You would be better off just buying the line and replacing all of it. There might be a small crack on the bottom of one line. That is where they like to hide. LOL Good luck. It's the little things that are frustrating.

I dont know if your engine has a TPS, but on my brothers grand cherokee it was idling way high and it was because the TPS was bad.

had the same problem with mine in the spring

replaced all the sensors and such...ended up being a blown gakset in the intake and exhaust manifolds

try that..that definitely fixed it for me

I tried the WD40 leak test with no luck! Any other ideas how to check for a leak. Only thing that keeps me puzzled is that it runs awesome until it warms up!

thanks

by runs awesome you mean doesnt idle fast too? I have a small screw on my efi that changes the idle speed. Not sure if a heep has the same thing. It doesnt look like it would have a thing to do w/ idle speed either. Good luck and fo rthe dude who said replace the intake/exhaust gaskets. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> Kinda a lot of work to be a shoot in the dark guess.

ok

I MIGHT be getting somewhere

I have 2 MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors (one original and one from a spare engine) and with one of them it will idle nice (800-900rpm) but run rich and blow slight amounts of black smoke, and hesitate a little when taking off and between shifts! When i put the other ii, it idles high 1100-1200 rpm's + but runs much better and with less hesitation

there is no idle adjustment on this rig though

any ideas?

thanks
