Was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on which of the two performs better on and off road. My YJ is getting new D44's from a '80 Scout II. I was looking at doing a SOA with a shackle reversal, but was wondering if Pro Comps stage 2 conversion lift would be the better route?

If you wanted coils, you should have spent a little more money and bought a TJ. To me, the best part about the YJ is the leaf springs, the only thing better than leaf springs would be coil OVERS, which are a totally different animal than coil SPRING conversion kits. AND.... Pro comp coil conversion=poop. (Do I hear an echo?)

Make sure the stoopit coil kit you get can accomodate the larger axle tubes. The Tomken one (for CJs?) would have to be modified for upgraded axles. Probably not all that big of a deal, but there may be more to it like can the kit handle additional un-sprung weight, etc.

Is there a coil over kit? Or is that up to the individual to design and create? I already have TJ and don't think I haven't thought about using that as the project and the YJ as the daily driver.
Nope, no coil over kit I've ever seen... pretty much I guess the manufacturers figure that at that point the builder should be able to do it themselves.

Spring over that SOB and save the dough. If you want coils don't get a fawkin kit, build your own.:flipoff2:

There's nothing wrong with a SOA. We are in the middle of a SOA and S/R on my Yj right now. (Stock wrangler springs)
We got it on the ramp once in front wheel drive last night (rear driveline is too long at the moment). ramp is running about 35 degrees (after you figure in slope of ground) and if you were looking for a score I would guess it right around 750. It still had droop left but lost traction (and front brakeline was acting as a limiting strap) reaching the top of the ramp otherwise it probably could have been nearly 900.
So, don't know where that figures on a 23 degree ramp, but it's gotta be up near or above the TJ you mentioned.
But bottom line, the RTI score doesn't mean sh!t when it comes to what a good trail rig is. The ramp is more of a tool for brake line length, shock length, shock mounting, etc.

Warn's old XCL kit is a coil over kit, but requires a lot of cutting and welding. The kit is now being marketed as black diamond off road.. suspension. Ask JeepnSN, steve about it.. He sells it.
