: SOA vs. Coil Conversion
jeepclub 11-27-2001, 06:12 AM Well, taking the amount of flex into account, I have found that the coil converted YJ's have an amazing amount of flex compared to a sping over.
On the RTI ramp I watched a SOA Yj get around 950 on a 23 degree ramp although the springs weren't completely broken in yeat so they were still stiff. The coil converted YJ came up and easily hit 1200. It was very impressive.
Take into account the cost difference. BIGTIME! SOA's are cheap to do compared to coil over.
All depends on your application, and bank account
:)
NE-RokToy 11-27-2001, 10:43 AM hehe the newby hit post instead of reply... and obviously he is not speaking of the Pro-Crap coil conversion.
Insayn 11-27-2001, 12:56 PM No Shit! :flipoff2:
And what the fawk does an RTI ramp prove? Not a damn thing on the trail.
that your shocks and brakelines fit? bout the only use I've seen for em
Po' riggity 11-27-2001, 04:26 PM All I know is the newbie needs to make up his mind.. in the subject he says coil conversion, and in the text he says coil over.. theres a HUGE difference. And if he's that concerened with ramps, he needs to get out more :D
Scott :grinpimp:<><
RoCkSkuLLz 11-27-2001, 05:20 PM LOL, This guy must be out of his fawkin mind. I've seen those piece of repeatin shit coil conversions in action. It was soooo pathetic, one guy was all proud thinkin it was going to ramp something and when he pulled up on the 23 degree ramp it scored a wopping 700.. :D I couldnt stop laughing. I personally have a SOA setup on my YJ and It way out flex any pro-crap coil conversion.
Besides dont humiliate a YJ with some :rainbow: coils. You may as well paint it pink and drive it around the mall.
Jeepmangled87 11-27-2001, 08:42 PM If your gonna waste your money on that bull-shit at least get the Black diamond over the pro-crap! All those cheesy bolt on kits are for fags who cant build there own shit!! SOA is a way of life unless of course you have no balls and want to be a poser:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :skull:
AU Jeep 11-28-2001, 10:51 AM  Im wanting to go soa with my yj. its a daily driver that i often drive 400 miles round trip(once or twice a month). how different does it ride than a stock suspension? im sure that if it is bad, i can go with a shackle reverse kit.

SOA rides nice! Mine ran like a caddy compared to SUA jeeps. I used to drive mine almost 150 miles each day to work and back. Also I wasnt running track bars or sway bars, nothin :D Just bombin down the freeway all loose with 35's :smokin:
misdmnr 11-28-2001, 05:44 PM Jeepmangled87 no balls...all tits:flipoff2: just looking to build it right the first time:p

jeepclub 11-30-2001, 07:37 AM Sorry I thought I had hit reply.
jeepclub 11-30-2001, 07:41 AM I apologize about my lack of crappy YJ lift solutions. I figured the "know it alls" would know what I meant.
It was a coil over kit from Black Diamond that was on the YJ I saw.
;)
jeepclub 11-30-2001, 07:42 AM No, RTI ramps aren't imporatnt to me, but it can be used as a good tool for tweaking you vehicle and measuring articulation. I was giving an opinion that I found it pretty impressive that there was such a big difference from the POS SOA to the coil over kit.
:p
misdmnr 11-30-2001, 09:13 AM Jeepclub,

LOS-YJ 12-15-2001, 07:30 PM Simply way to figure it out SOA = $300 Coil Shit= over $1,000 ====SOA and plenty left over for beer, black hookers, and weed:smokin: :smokin: :smokin:
misdmnr 12-16-2001, 10:54 AM good thinking, my buddys doin a coil over I think I will help him and see how big of a headache it is!
YJ4LIFE 12-20-2001, 10:43 PM Black diamond used Fox coil overs. I made a page when it came out. http://members.tripod.com/GRK_Taz/4x4/coil.html
4x4extreme 12-21-2001, 03:09 PM SOA = MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET
WideJ 12-21-2001, 06:38 PM someone mentioned a RTI ramp earlier...
what they are for (besides claiming fame to a flexy suspension) is seeing if anything binds, bottoms out, tops out, or rubs. This is a valuable tool that can help you work out the bugs before you hit the trail.
