I had this happen to me almost .A guy named abubakar emailed me about a quad I had . Said he would send me a check from an american bank, and to take the price of the quad and shipping and send the balance or wire to him . He never asked for a picture of the quad or anything about it . A check came fed-ex for more than original . It was for $8000 and I was selling the quad for $3500 . I looked at the check and all sorts of stuff was spelled wrong , called the bank and it was a real bank ,but could not tell me the check was good or bad . So i milked this guy a long for a while ,and contacted the NATIONAL CHECK FRAUD CENTER, they said it is a huge scam out of africa for the past 10 years . So I email abubakar and told him that the check was at my bank and I got a cashiers check for him and it was on its way to africa . He flipped out telling me that they don't use cashiers check in africa and to get the check back and wire the funds asap. So i email him saying that I can't wire him money til I get my cashiers check fom him ,and not to worry as long as his check was good that I would have the funds to wire him th funds.Then I told him about a friend that sold a car to a guy got a cashiers check and gave the balance of the check to the guy buying my buddies car. Well the check was fake and my buddy lost his car and $5000 he owes the bank. And i hope he wasn't scamming me like that .He flipped out calling me at 12am my time , in which i get up at 430 so he pissed me off now . He was harassing me now . So the NCFC said to block his emails and phone number . HERE IS THE BEST PART HERE IS THE SECRET SERVICE EMAIL AND CONTACT THEM ,email them all 20 or so emails from abubakar and they would contact me . THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO I CONTACTED A TASK FORCE IN AFRICA AND THAT WAS IT. Well now I have an angry african emailing me and calling . So I contacted the moderator of OFFROAD>COM and he posted a bulletin about african check fraud and keep, me annoymous and the angry african email me once and said that he say a post on offroad.com and that he was not on of those scammers .So I had the check went to mt bank and it was fake . Told off the angry scamming african . And that was it .. SO STORY LESSON LEARNED TAKE CASH AND LOOK FOR THE LITTLE STRIP IN THE BILLS IF YOU DO GET CASHIERS CHECK GO WITH THE GUY TO THE BANK AND CASH IT OR WIRE THE MONEY TO YOUR ACCOUNT NO CHARGE AT MOST BANKS. BIGGEST TO REMEMBER IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ITS PROBABLY FAKE cya Chris
