I'm in the middle of a SM465 install on my CJ7. I have a SBC 350 and the stock aluminum truck bellhousing for the SM465. I just installed a LUK clutch and bought a GM clutch fork (79-84 i believe, it matches what is found in trucks that have a 465)to fit the throwout bearing that came with the clutch kit. My original setup consisted of an AA bellhousing to adapt the 350 to the T5 and it used a GM clutch with the original jeep fork and throwout bearing. The jeep fork does not fit the GM bellhousing pivot at all so had to go.

How did the rest of you that installed 465's behind SBC handle the clutch linkage issue? AA makes a part (PN:716638) that supposedly helps with this but before I spend another $65 I wanted to hear from y'all. How do I make the jeep linkage and pivot work with the GM fork and clutch????

on my friends cj5.. we used a piece of anle iron.. there were two holes along side the lower block then bolted the stock cj linkage to it... instead of the bell housing.. and instead of the two bolts going in to the rear (into the bellhousing) we bolted them upwards thru the angle iron.. works great.. except the clutch rod just rubs alittle on the headers..

My buddy did the same thing for his 5.On some bellhousings there is a bolt hole in line with the block holes.His runs to both the block and the bellhousing.I think he used the stock chevy adjustable rod between the fork and the jeep linkage.Blazin <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

You can go hydro with all stocker parts. Use a late GM bellhousing with the braket for the slave and then use a GM arm and a Jeep Slave and master from a YJ.

If you do not already have a hydro clutch you can get the whole drop pedal assembly from a YJ and fit it in the CJ. This is also a good chance to go to power brakes if you don't have them already.
