Glad to see he got the axles done. 9"/Mog portals standard rotation flipped (i think), rear engine. Let's see how it does.

No shafts - seems silly to put it together (on wheels) without the front shafts, since it's kind of a pain (heavy!) to pull everything back apart.

Looks good though!

the engine being in the rear would require him to not flip the third member over. unless he runs in rev to go forward, or is running a rev rotation engine:D

oh no, it doesn´t make any sense.
I bet, if you make a turn with this rig the outer wheel turns sharper than the inner!! It has to be opposite.

what if he then steers in the opposite direction to what you are thinking? Or is the mog steering setup specifically for something?

MORE CLUES wolfgang:D

(What ackerman is (http://www.rctek.com/handling/ackerman_steering_principle.html))... Apparently he sees an error in the way the tie rod is mounted to the knuckles compared to the stock setup....

Wait a second... - Wolfgang, is the stock mog tie-rod *BEHIND* the axle, and Tony just flipped the hubs from side to side to move the tie rod in front? Because that would account for what Wolfgang is saying. :)

New steering arms are on the tool box. Just don't know if it's ok to switch the mod boxes from side to side. I'll explain more about that later.

Big rush to get them both don't by friday so we can test at Moonrocks or Fernley before hauling them to Cedar City with no run time.

Got a lot done this weekend. They need skid plates, firewalls, 1 computer, and axles. And gas....

Yep, the Mog tir-rod is behind the axle. He just switched the arms.
The Ackermann angle is realy screwed up.

Tony, Looks great! Have an ETA on the coilovers?

The new shocks are going to be worn out by the time they release. Just want to make sure there are no problems and we fully understand how to adjust the valving in the shock for needs of the customer.

I have 6 rigs running the shocks at RCAA next week. That should be the last testing needed before the release.

Looks like we will get both RAZORS completed by friday. May take them to Prarie City for the first run. Not much to run over there but really all I need to test is that they run and parts don't fall off from rushing.

tony k

About the steering angle from moving the tie rod to the front.

It kind of tricks the follow tire into being a little more agressive at attacking when climbing the face of a ledge. The Jeeps did crappy on ledges so I like the prospect of that.

It's not like these get driven down the street at 55 so correct road manners counts for nothing.

Just incase it doesn't work, I have a pair of arms we built to correct the attack angle.

Looks great. If you are running the front axle backwards, might wan't to shift the portal boxes from side to side. If they are backwards, the portal boxes puke oil out of the breather tube, like mine do. And of course, people talk of a strength issue.

TONY K
07-06-2003, 08:57 AM
I've wheeled with you enough to know there is no strength issue with a mog.

Swapping the boxes will have to wait a few weeks. It's sunday am and the first Razor is just getting a few last minute changes. The Second Razor still hasn't fired the motor (hopefully late today) and I'm missing a few parts from the mog axles. We don't have to leave until wed pm for Cedar City so I think we're ok on time.

If anyone has any spare mog steering axle parts in the Sac area, please call or e-mail me asap.

thanks,

tony k

top, for parts. Have you tried Rundog, or Joel?

TONY K
07-06-2003, 10:20 PM
No spare parts from Rundog. I think I've got the axle parts covered now.

If anyone had a 2001 Buick Regal and wanted to part with the wiring harness and (computers) and the key. I could really use that about now.
