Pulled the pass. side shaft and the u-joint seems shot. It bends in one angle but not in the other. It drove fine just before I pulled it so it's kind of strange. What could it be? It's the original '91 vintage non-greasable joint and it looks fine on the outside. This might be a good time to upgrade to the 297x joints. Where can I get stock '95+ replacements for a good price? Should those have the bigger joint? I'm not interested in the Warn shafts or hub kit, I love my vac disco. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I would ditch the disco and get TJ XJ shafts they are alot easier to find, I beleive randy's ring and pinion or drivetrain warehouse or something sells all 4 shafts for around $250, nondisco that is.

OK, since it looks like the replacement would take some researching I'll just replace the u-joint for now. Somewhere, I saw a post with a link to a write-up on axle u-joint replacement. Does anybody have it? I've done u-joints on driveshafts but I know the axle ones are somewhat different.
Edit: I found Stu's write-up on replacing the u-joint.

I hate to say it, but you can always try J&W Auto Wreckers. They are here in CA but take online orders all the time and they have EVERYTHING Jeep.
I don't know the site. Just search for it.
