That IS a great fawkin link! Anyways, since it sounds like you are building an engine anyways, the cost of retro fitting for propane may not be an issue. I know allot of guys in Canada run prop. Anyways, as for opinions, I think its a great wheeling mod, propane engines will run upside down without a tick untill your oil pump runs dry. Only major drawback that I know of is that propane isn't exactly on every street corner like gas. Not a big dealer for something that isn't a dd though.

That IS a nice link.

Aside from the propane not being at every corner like gas, the only issue that stoped me from doing it is the tank(s).:( Most propane conversions I've seen have a "big ass" tank in the cab or bed. You end up loosing cargo space for propane storage :(

What do you do if you run out of gas on the trail:confused: It's not like you can run 50 or 60 Coleman propane cylinders together:laughing: And propane is very explosive:nuke: (these things crack me up:D )

And gasoline isn't?

Propane has an LEL of around 2.1%
The LEL for Gasoline averages around 1.3%

Use Forklift bottles. Most guys seem to get 8-9 hours from a full bottle... mount 2 in the rig, and keep one on the trailer. You're good for 3 days straight.

Oh, and you CAN run a 20lb grill botle if you need to.

Propane is extremly clean. I have been inside engines with 200,000 plus miles that were pristine. Most of the dirt in oil and therefore in the motor come from the fuel we burn. I don't think I would go to a propane only system on anything other than a fullsize truck just because of the tank size. But iv'e seen people run duel fuel. Propane with gasoline back up.
