: Full Width Axle Issues
WideJ 11-27-2001, 10:18 PM Having full width F-250 axles under my YJ has brought the center of gravity down and given it a very stable stance. Is there anyone that has done a similar swap? Now I have 35x12.50 bfg's that are nearing their end... I've seen swampers and mtr's work their magic on the rocks. Any opinions on what a good tire to run considering my width?
BRUISER-42 11-27-2001, 10:25 PM The stance really does not factor into the tire, as far as traction. Although I would go with a taller tire than you used before, your heepee is going to be exposed more underneath.
I would get some 36 sx's but your heep will never see dirt. So in your case go for some Firestone wilderness ta's :flipoff2: Do a search ya freggin NEWBIE...
tigger4x 11-28-2001, 01:30 AM  OOOOOH!! :fj:Pen with a quick poke to the eye! That had tah hurt! Awwww, pity! NOT!! :flipoff2:
And yeah, I would go with at least 36-38s if yer really gonna keep up!
OR you could get a lowering kit, some twice wide dayton gold wires w/ knockoffs & low-pro whitewalls, some dingleballs n fuzzy dice, with the leopard seat covers. And don't forget the neon underneath, the flame stickers, and the all mighty Knight Rider 3rd brakelight! Now you don't hafta worry about using "search" or what size tires to run! I gave you the crib notes! You will be the envy of the barrio S.A. Cha-da-lay Holmes!
BTW... Have a :) day! :barf:boy! :flipoff2:
High5 11-28-2001, 02:59 AM well if they are f250 axles you could have a 44 or a 60 front...which is it? with a 44 i'd go 36x12.50 sx's if it is the 60 definatly move on up to the 38's. i feel the narrower tires on an 8" rim is a good combo for full width axles to help keep the over all width down within reason. just my op.

I have full width 44/9" in my YJ. I ran 8" rims with 36" SX's and drug everywhere I went. Got some 38.5" SX's on 10" rim and lovin every minute of it. I say go 38's and never look back.
1TONTJ 11-28-2001, 09:18 AM I run nearly full sized axles (I narrowed them 4") with 3.5" BS 15x10's and 38.5x14.5" SX's on my TJ. Works GREAT, is not tippy and has reasonable clearance (going to shave the diffs this winter though).

Like the other guy said if 3/4 ton get 36's if 1 ton get 38's.

brimy311 11-28-2001, 10:02 AM i bought some 36x12.5 swampers and i drag the rear 60 on everything:mad: wish i would have bought 38's:rolleyes:
smitrock 11-28-2001, 10:17 AM if you have the axles, go 38 or you will reget it
down the road you will want them, and have to wait, or sell the ones you have and take a loss
WideJ 11-28-2001, 11:30 AM I have the 44 front and 60 rear... Sounds like some 37's are in order...

G.C. Bandit 11-29-2001, 04:59 PM I love my 38 and wouldnt go to anything smaller.
High5 11-29-2001, 06:31 PM the reason i recomend 35 or 36" tires is because of the d44 front. i used to break my old d44 with 35's so i know my current 38.5's would munch them. i guess it all dependes on where and how you wheel as to how long the 44's will hold up.:D
JeeperJake 11-30-2001, 07:36 AM so email the pics- whatever- but lets see em'!
