: 38's, are 2.5" springs enough?
BigHG 11-27-2001, 11:47 PM I am getting some conflicting info. I am getting ready to put a 60 and 14 bolt under my cj7. If I am using 2 1/2 inch lift springs, soa, and a 1" body will I have to remove the front fenders to clear the 38's?
I don't have a problem going under the knife (or sawzall) but I wanted to flat fender the fronts not take them off.
I will be getting new springs (considering Alcans but pricey!) and want to make sure I get what I need.
Po' riggity 11-28-2001, 01:19 AM You will be fine, especially if you flatfender the front. Here is a picture of my buddy's yj with 2.5" springs SOA, a 1.5" body lift and TJ flares running 38.5 TSL bias. His name is Rockbuggy on this forum.

tigger4x 11-28-2001, 01:41 AM Well, ... a little here and a little there has always worked for me. An inch or so of body, 2 & a half or three up underneath, and you can always implement an inch or two in your shackles, + or - depending on which way there a swingin', preferrably reversed. It's all part of playin' the game, right:question:
Let the fun begin, again!
peanut 11-28-2001, 06:40 AM I have that exact setup on my 84 CJ-7, it is perfect on my rig, I did however install YJ front flares so the sawall did hit them a little. Oh, and my body lift is 1 1/2" but surely that wouldn't make much of a difference I would think.
RoCkSkuLLz 11-28-2001, 09:12 AM :D Thanks 1BadJeep. Yea I'm running 2.5 RE extreme duty springs on my spring over. There good for 38.5's well they were better before they started sagging. Heres another pic.

The Rockslut 11-28-2001, 09:56 AM I run 38.5" SX's on my YJ. Full width axles 2.5" waggy springs 2" body lift, Longer shackels, shackle reversal, with tube front fenders and rear TJ flares (tub is cut 2" because axle is back 2")
A little trimming and you will fit.
Welby 11-28-2001, 10:25 AM Damn, RB. That things sweet :D
BigHG 11-28-2001, 10:59 AM OK, Thanks for the replies. I should be in good shape.
The only question I have now is: Would you go with a different lift spring size, knowing what you know now? Or is everyone very happy with the flex and performance with 2 1/2"springs.

Thanks Welby :D Soon it wont have a gas tank hanging down in the rear, going fuel cell. and some avalanche competition rear fenders. Stretching the wheelbase to 100"-104" :D
RockJock 11-28-2001, 09:06 PM It's just like a woman with breast implants. Are they going to be big enough???? My advice, cut cut cut. Besides, its fun!
thenodnarb 11-28-2001, 09:56 PM those 60 and 14 bolt housings are pretty big in diameter. with 2.5" springs, it may be just a hair to tall with the suspension lift that driveline angles may suffer. ask rockbuggy about the specifics. I seem to remember 8.5 inches is about all you can go.
crawlin'YJ 11-28-2001, 10:10 PM Hey Rockbuggy-where are your front shocks in that one picture? Did you disconnect them? Maybe I'm not seeing it clearly enough.
:jeep:
thenodnarb 11-28-2001, 10:20 PM its there, see it hanging? it busted earlier in the trip and he never bothered to care. shocks limit travel anyway. That may have even been taken several days later.
Rockbuggy, did you ever fix that?
RoCkSkuLLz 11-28-2001, 10:41 PM The shock is a quick disconnect specialty :D I customized that myself. In other words it broke off about 3-4 months ago and I dont care enough to weld it back on. I have other shock mounts that are going on anyways. Thats the partial reason im waiting. O yea and the day we took that picture I ended up busting the other shock off :D, Brandons right though it limits travel. hehehe
Maybe one of these weekends I'll get around to it and weld the new mounts on.

Can anybody comment on this? I was planning on going CV shafts. In the rear at least. I figured I might still have enough up front for a regular drive shaft.

Yea there the Tera Flex Revolvers front and rear. They work good. I like them, they add some great flex. I just got a new Canadian offroad magazine and there was an article on another company making something similiar. I havent had a chance to read about them yet but they looked kind of cool...

sanyi83 11-29-2001, 09:08 PM Where can I find a fuel cell for a 95 YJ?
Jeepmangled87 11-29-2001, 09:40 PM Whats wrong with a 3inch body or 2 why 1. Its all the same in my book go bug and you wont regret it. Also for the dude who wants a fuel cell try Summit Racing. They dont make them for a YJ its all custom you got to do it your self its not bolt on.:usa:
