: Britsh Columbia!
Slowzuki 07-04-2003, 06:20 AM Hey west coast folk, I'm soon going to BC for a few weeks and getting off the train in Vancouver!
Tell me what to visit
Walk-on or take the rental to Vancouver Island
Where not to go
I've got the mountains route covered, just the coastal/island stuff I don't know about.
McJeep 07-04-2003, 08:33 AM When, where, whatcha wanna do?
If you're looking to ride shotgun on a run on the island it's gonna be tough. The timber co's have got pretty much everything locked down due to fire hazard :(
Are you on your own and partying hearty or are there civilized people involved :D
Are you coming on vacation or is it a business trip where you'll need to be at meetings etc?
Rob
edit: I can help with the island part...MB or Whizzy or Paul or Sub will likely chime in for the mainlanders:D
Whizzy 07-04-2003, 08:40 AM Did I hear someone say BBQ?!
:D
McJeep 07-04-2003, 08:50 AM Bwaaahahaha, you guys are nuthin if not consistent :D :flipoff2:
edit: must work up the courage to go to mainland one day ;)
Slowzuki 07-04-2003, 09:15 AM Probably not much party, the GF is with. It's a vacation / got done university / see Canada kinda trip.

Slowzuki 07-04-2003, 11:23 AM C'mon! Its about time for you west coasters to be out of bed! It's not a holiday in Canuck land so theres no excuse!
Give me some travel tips:flipoff2:
Paul Gagnon 07-04-2003, 03:03 PM When are you going to be here?
Slowzuki 07-08-2003, 09:49 PM Ok so its looking like I'll be in a rental when I get to Vancouver and will have maybe 1.5 days on the island (July 20ish). I hear there is a sweet hostel over there somewhere! Tell me more!
BTW I'd like to send Via Rail a big :flipoff: for almost doubling my ticket over what they quoted and reserved at! Looks like a minivan with the seats out will be in order!
Fawkers!
So, when they say unlimited mileage, is like 12 000 km ok?:flipoff2:
Paul Gagnon 07-08-2003, 10:00 PM Where are you coming from? I once drove from Edmundston to Vancouver(a distance of 5500 km) in 5 days and it can be done quicker. You might want to do it a little slower to see the sights but you can also stop at some of them on the way back.
As far as the mileage unlimited should mean unlimited.

If your asking about the hostels in Victoria THIS (http://www.travelscout.com/victoria/hostels/oceanisland/oceanisland.htm. ) must be the one your refering to.
It has an excellent reputation.A guy I knew use to stay there all the time if he was in town drinking late.
Lots of travelers go through it also.I wouldn't hesitate to stay there.
It's right downtown too so you can walk anywhere in town you'd like.Victoria is a pretty small city so the downtown core is really mellow.Lots of stuff to do all within a half hours walk.
