I have just run into a drivetrain problem in my '89 RRC. The front pinion bearings have just gone to sh*t in my front differential. I have wanted to do the 24 spline swap in my RRC and also the LT230 swap. Now is a pretty dang good time. I am trying to find out if a drivetrain out of a '94 Discovery will work in my truck. I have a friend that has a 94 disco he is parting out am i am goin to just take the complete underneath side of his truck if it will work. Both front and rear axles, diffs, driveshafts, and LT230. Has anyone done this? I have read alot and done some research and i have the feeling it will work. Just wanted to get someone elses opinion. Does the rear self leveling unit work with the disco axle? what about brake calipers, brake lines, etc. Any info on this will help. The 10 splines are just to weak especially with 33x13.50x15 swampers.
Thanx

I'm gonna be helping Ryan with this swap, and doing the documentation of the swap, and build up.
I've gotta couple questions:
Does the 89 RR, have larger swivel balls than the Disco, or are they the same size? I'm thinking in terms of Ryan wanting to upgrade to the 110 CV's down the road.
Can the Disco Calipers be used with the non ABS RR. Is there any problem in simply adapting the doubled brake lines in the front, down to a single line and running those into the Disco caliper? Or would it be better to simply swap the RR Calipers and rotors over the Disco's front axle housing.
We're trying to determine what will be the optimal setup for his truck. We have 2 complete Rangie axles F&R and 2 complete Disco axles R&R so whatever the best combinations of parts to build up is, we can do.
The 89 RR should have the same ZF transmission as the Disco donar, so we should be able to use the output shaft from the Disco. to make the Rangie tranny to the Disco LT230?
I'll probably think of some others in a bit.
