just picked up a mod 20 from a 83 waggy, as I unloaded it I noticed that it had two peice axles, the shaft is 1 3/4 with lots of splines then the hub looks as if it is pressed on and then welded around the seem??? now I always read that the mod 20 in the waggys were solid axles like a 44, what's up with this?? looks like it should be strong enough but are they all this way or is there years where solid axles were not used?? and I just grabbed the wrong one???

They are all that way as far as I know but they are still way stonger than the cj splined hub two piecers. Good luck and spares should be cheap.

I have the same thing on my 83 waggy mod 20. I was thinking about running a bead around the inside of the shaft as well. I don't think I will have a problem with it though. The shafts look pretty stout. I figure I will run it till it breaks enough for me to buy alloy one piecers. Know what I mean.
