I just got back from a great weekend on the Rubicon. There was one thing I saw in Little Sluice that did disturb me. I saw several rigs with the Pirate flag flying above the American flag. Just a refresher in flag etiquette, if you are going to fly the American flag, it must be flown at the highest position on the staff.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Not really. It is really a slap in the face to the American flag to fly another flag above it.

Wheelers are generally pretty forgiving when it comes to where we fly our flag. If you or your relatives fought for it, you might think of it differently. But when I see it, I'm just glad to see it.

I too am always glad to see it, but I do think it should be given some reverence. It just detracts from what it stands for when it is not treated with respect. Although I have never had to fight for it, my dad did as a Marine in WWII and Korea and I keep his flag displayed in my living room as a reminder of those who have given their life for what it represents.

I'm with ya on this. Good for you. I just happen to be one of those unlucky guys that fought for it in a couple different countries. So to me, the higher you fly it and the more reverance you give it, the better. :)
