alright...i searched for several hours with many different search criteria and didnt find what i was looking for. how much lift is stock waggoneer fronts over stock CJ springs? and how much lift do you achieve with the 44044's over stock CJ springs?

thanks

Stock Waggy springs should gain approx 1.5-2" over stock CJ springs. 44044's should gain 4-4.5" over CJ springs.
Front CJ springs are only 2" wide compared to the 2.5" on a Waggy. You'll need to move a mount also - Waggy's are longer.

teh ranchos are pretty stiff at first...least on my tacoma with the v6.....i have had them for about 2 months now and they are getting a bit softer....granted...havent wheeled on them yet to break them in,....

so i would think that if you got new 44044 on your cj....its going to be a bit stiff at first.....unless you get some used ones,,,,,

Sorry about hijacking the thread, but, would the Waggy springs and 44044's provide about the same amount of lift over stock Wrangler springs?

Heres my spin on things and a few pics.. I am using JC Whitney Stock Waggy HD 7 leaf springs. They flex great. The 44044s are great springs but I did not want or need all that lift.

I would say that the stock waggy springs give around 2-2.5inches of lift over stock. I am using these springs SOA and its around the same height as all my friends who are using 2.5 inch springs SOA.

I am running 37 mtrs with a flat fendered front and a trimmed rear with TJ flares.

Good Luck

Jeep looks good, I am thinking about trying to build a Legends class Jeep for the NEUROC series. Don't think I would need the 44044's, but want the HD 7 leaf Waggy's to clear some 35's or 36's with some trimming if I have to.

I am in the process of doing the same SOA with Waggy's and found the 7 leaf packs stiff and tall... my brothers SOA with Wrangler stock leafs measures about 27" from ground to tub... with the waggy packs I'm at 30". Mind you he's stock YJ leafs are a little sagged. I'm repacking the waggy leafs to 5 and see how that feels...

I don't have exact numbers, but the stock SJ springs mounted on a YJ will give some lift (~2" I'm guessing) 44044s will give even more. A friend of mine has a SOA YJ on 44044s and I have an SOA YJ on 2.5" lift springs, he's got nearly 3" more height not counting tires on otherwise identical suspensions.

and assuming SOA on 44044's what size tire can you run (lets say non trimmed for the purpose of keeping things the "same")

how about with the 7 leafs?

i plan to go SOA on 38 14.5 sx's and would like to pick a spring that gives enouigh lift (after trimmed) to fit this tire.

but i am also interested to see what fits without hacking a ton(which i WILL do anyway)

So your gonna hack it up. Cool. I am impressed by the visual aid too.

Norm's getting the d60/14 bolt combo I bought from Dave. That and a Klune is as far as its going.

You will clear 38's with the 7leaf waggys with trimming. 44044s are great springs but too damn tall. I clear 36's with no trimming.

The jcwhitney link is $99ea. and when they ship them, they just drop the leafsprings on your porch.

here is a bigger pic of just the front suspension. the reason i am wanting 44044 is to make sure i can clear the diff on the rockwell. i might not be able to afford 42's right away. thats why i said maybe as small as 38's

here is the rear side view. i think elf-cruiser used stock TJ front coils. im not sure how much room is between his axlehousing and the frame though. i am hoping for around ten.

here's the rear

yes 38's will be a stepping stone

grip guru, 44044's or 7 leafs? on your jeep...thanks

aggie i like what you have in mind, i have something similar in mind although with 38's on 60/14 bolt. 50 years from now when i can afford it:(

I have a YJ with the 5 leaf JCWs. I have a one inch Body Lift. And I did a TON of hacking - basically all the vertical portion of the front fender. No flares.

I fit 38.5 SXs (on 16.5 rims) - BARELY. At full stuff they are kissing the top of the fender.

Link to a trip report with more pictures (http://www.rightcoastcrawler.com/trails/slipperycreek/20030622/Story.html)

Now I wanted it low and the springs as flat as possible, so I am happy with it. I have a spare hood and am figuring out how to build my own high hood right now.

But you might want to the 7 leafs if you don't want to hack so much.

Also, I'm running full width axles.

Hope this helps.

hell yeah it helps a lot :D I was thinking 7 leafs, but now i am sorta thinking 5 leafs. I too will be going full width when i save the pennies and do it all.
