: Chevy D60 - spring pad vs pinion vs caster angle?

On a Chevy D60 front axle, what is the relationship between the spring pad, pinion and caster angles?

If the spring pad is at 0*, what is the pinion angle and caster angle?

Spring pad @ 0*
Pinion @ ?*
Caster @ ?*

The Chevy manual lists the stock caster at 8*, but what can I reference on the housing to measure this?

Thanks.

I accidentially hit enter without finishing the post....oops. I will add your posts below and delete the other one.

Mine measures at 7.5 degrees off--if spring pad angle is dead-level, I'd have 7.5 degrees of caster. Mine is currently set at 1.3 forward on the spring pad, and 6.2 back on the caster. It's not under a Chevy truck. Also, my kingpin bushings are toast, so my measurements could be off just a touch. Pinion angle is 8 degrees, so 6.7 degrees from spring pad angle, and 14.2 from the caster.

Oh, and reference for pinion angle, I'd use the cover plate flange... it's big, flat, and easy. You can use the case spreader bosses on either side of the cover--they're machined flat to the cover surface, which is 90 degrees to the pinion.

FYI...........

I took some crude measurements of a Chevy D60 last night and I came up with the following....

Angle finder on the driver's side spring perch = 0*

Angle finder on the pinion yoke = 8* up

Angle finder on top of pass side knuckle = 5.5* back
