Nobody sells a 2" lift skid. Kilby makes the nicest skid out there if you want to just buy one. If you want to make better use of the space under the tub get out your torches and welder.

I raised my tank 8" or so. Write up on my site.

Nope. You'd have to make that one on your own. I have the 1" Kilby, and even that made a big difference.

WTF: I can't link from MSN anymore
See below, dammit.

Yea Nasvik's got a nice gas tank lifting solution :D. I dig it!
I debated on going that route but decided to just go with a fuel cell since the plastic YJ tank I have now has had it day. So the aluminum fuel cell's going in the back :D

I didn't go quite as far as Nasvik, but I did manage to get mine up about 2.5".

http://pages.prodigy.net/coolmank/pics/gtl/installed.jpg

In conjunction with a 1" body lift and a raised rear x-member/shock mount/gas tank mount, I was able to modify my Tomken skid to be the sole mount (no more factory piece). The whole project also yielded enough room to mount RS9005's with only 4" of lift.

redruM,
If you find anything let me know. I am about to do a chop job on my crossmember and skid to lift it 2.5 inches. I sure would like to save some time and headache.

A buddy of mine supposedly achieved 2.5" of lift without modding the x-member (just modding his Tomken skid) but I find that hard to believe.

Moving the x-member up is not hard (with a 1" body lift). Just sawzall the x-member out, grind of some material from each side and slip in some plates (I used 1/4") to act as "adapters."

Use the body mounts to locate the x-member into its new position. Don't forget to trim down those 2 body mounts by 1".

It takes some work to get it done. I never measured mine, but I think I got close to 3" maybe.

With the help of a 1in body lift and a floor jack
I was able to get 2 1/4 out of my Tomken.
But not quite as much in the front.

I raised mine about 7".
I just cut the bed away, starting from the rear gate going forward 24". Built a new crossmember just in front and behind the tank, to mount body supports and the tank to. Then installed a new bed above the tank. I can still mount my rear seat for when my daughters go wheelin(they just have more legroom and less headroom).

Hey cmk , do you have any pics of how much clearance you have with that setup?

Did you reuse the stock ski-plate and just cut 2" out of it?

Just wondering because I'll probably do this too.

Check out this directory, it has the few pics that I took of the setup.

No, the stock gas tank skid/mount does not get reused ... junk it. Save the original straps though. I didn't bother to save mine and had to rig something out of ratchet straps and zip ties.

How come CMK's pictures don't work anymore? CMK can you email them to me?

Going to be using your idea on a friends Jeep soon.

Thanks,
