2.8L Powerstroke's For Sale (http://www.colorado4x4.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=005368)

I saw this last night on the Colorado 4x4.org site. If these are the engines I think they are, they are brand new. They were meant for the new Crosslander.

would every international dealer carry parts for those, or could he get them w/in 24-48 hrs like alot of other diesel manufactures advertise?

Larry, now don't take this the wrong way, but in the link you attached, I was more excited about this http://www.colorado4x4.org/ubb/graemlins/spit.gif than I was the engine.

yeah, a chap came on the yahoo Tdi list (and the D90 list) advertising these engines too. he lives in Canada, called Stephen Cahill email (cahillsj@ns.sympatico.ca)

apparently they are being converted with 300Tdi clutch covers and sumps so that they will pretty much drop straight into where a Tdi used to live. also he's doing other conversion kits for discovery, rangerover, defender V8 based vehicles too, so they will preyty much fit the whole landrover range.

looks like a good engine too, 300lb/ft of torque, 135bhp (before we've wound the fuelling and boost up!), and no electronics either. just the one fuel pump solenoid wire.

Larry this is the engine i just put in yesterday... yes, i tightened the bolts... Its basicly the 300tdi with more displacement, bigger turbo, and better cooling. Alot of the parts are the same as the 300tdi as far as service or replacement goes. Also I have been assured that any International Engines place can get you the parts in about 3 days. (there are lots of those places for the big rigs apparently)

Land Rover sold the license to produce the 300tdi to International in 2000, and if you order a 300tdi today from Land Rover it will be built by International. Its the 2.5L one on the weblink to Internationals site. They just put Land Rover heat shields on it.

Its very very sweet..

$6k is about right for just the engine. You fab guys can prolly make most of whats needed and make other bits work. But if you dont make it yourself or have the stuff, the price will rocket up another $3k very fast.

Those of us that dont fab and put it in a Rover will need..

-Torque converter / Clutch plate ( auto vs. 5 speed)
-Radiator / Intercooler (if your coming from gas)
-New Bellhousing / or make one..
- Fuel Filter
- Fuel level sender / pickup
-Oil sump (may be an issue on D90 or D2, or rangie crossmember.. (not on D1)
- Adapters for AC compressor (if you use it)
-Engine mounts.. ( I have templates)
- Super weird assortment of bits to vent transmission thru airbox post filter
-diesel fuel filler
-Bypass connectors for oil cooler, and transmission cooler..
-new exhaust
-Patience... patience... patience.....

There me a few other bits that im not thinking of, but oh well..

ITs a very very dooable install.. I will be posting mine soon. I paid $9500 for everything, plus shipping so I didnt have to fab anything. I spent about another $1000 for various bullshit, and a high capicity radiator.

There are some really whacky things to do with the install, but if I can do it, you guys can prolly do it blindfolded..

Cant give you a test drive report yet, cause I wont be starting it up till monday 'ish...

I would grab one for sure if you can, but there will be a fairly long and PITA process to get the other bits needed, as stuff is taking forever to get over from the UK. (ie.. torque converters and such)

After selling my old V8 and all its bits (ecu, evaps, mass airflow, alt, PS pump, etc.. I will be out of pocket about $7k for everything, which is what convinced me to do it.

Im in Boulder / Denver area if anyone wants to swing by and check it out.. Troy and LWG have seen it prior to me bolting it up and they know how inexperienced I am with car/truck engine work.
