Yes, I come from the dark side but at least I used to own a Series III 88 and a 109 when I lived in SA.

First question:
I am working on a 99 series II DISCO. Humming sound comming from the ft idle tensioner. Replaced it and the belt with OEM parts. Same sound. Gets a bit worse under load (AC or hard turns). If I take a bit of the tension off it with a wrench while the motor is on the sound goes away. Seems like it is tensioning too much but the old one was the exact same.


Second question:
At idle drive train is quiet. Under load I get a squealing sound comming from the tranny(at least I think it is comming from there). SOund does not start until 1800 RPM or so then follows the RPMs as they go up and down with the shift points. Sound changes in intensity with increase in RPM. If I run the motor in neutral, no sound. FOr all the world it sounds like a pilot bearing or a throw out.

Any ideas would be great

David, I think I'm the only other DII owner that frequents this list regularly. I had my idler pulley replaced under warranty, but have not had the other issue. Try posting on DiscoWeb.org. There's ALOT of DII drivers on that list.
