: Official "I pledge to behave on the trails thread"

Man, all this BS about people misbehaving on other threads makes me post my pledge:

I pledge to behave myself on the trails.
I pledge to be accountable for my actions.
I pledge to be nice to others and make some new friends.
I pledge to leave every trail and campsite cleaner than I found it, including the mess from my trail repairs.
I pledge to yield trail to oncoming traiffic if at all possible.
I pledge that, as much as I love my Barry Manilow collection, I will turn down my tunes after 10PM.
I pledge help those in need when I can (barring the idiot clause of no trail repair help being required for misbehaing idiots)
I pledge to promtly fall down in my sleeping bag when alcohol intake merits this.
I pledge to have fun and leave every run with pics of a few new friends.

Anybody else care to take the pledge (or add to it?)

SeanP

I pledge to carry a gun responsibly, or not at all.
I pledge not to trails/campgrounds as a target range.
I pledge to drink at camp, not driving down the trail.

ditto. I thought I was the only one annoyed after 10pm by other peoples music.

I do the Pledge of Allegiance (all but those two pesky new words added by Joe McCarthy) at each club meeting... even though that's within my normal code of conduct.

* I pledge to be aware of the land use issues relevant to the trail I'm on...
* I pledge to support the organizations that defend responsible recreation

I'd love to see this moved to General 4x4 -- as much as 4-wheeling is an opportunity to express one's individualism, with growth in the hobby and shrinking resources opportunities in which to recreate, like it or not, we all wheel within a community. Our hobby might be better off if more folks read this, better still, if more folks pledged it....

I pledge not to throw feces into the next camp containing hippy faggot protestors at EJS......well wait a minute...let me think about that one.....

I pledge not to slash the tire on the subaru....ummmm wait let me think about that one too.....

I pledge not to steal the sign at the SUWA/sierra club office in MOAB.....wait....that one is on my list too.....dammit.....

ok ok.......

I am a good guy on the trial. I don't drink...EVER....and I don't shoot guns in the vicinity of others. I don't steal beverages from others.

I pretty much already live by the above stated pledge...

I pledge never to move to California :flipoff2:

Seems there is an abundance of retarded wheelers out there.

I have been trying to change some of my habits to better the sport and its great to see others thinking about there own issues instead of trying to point at everyone elses and being hypocritical.

It's really a shame that there has to be a pledge for common sense and decency.

A quote from "Camping California" by Tom Stienstra

"Keep it wild tips:

#1 Let nature's sound prefail. Avoid loud voices and noises
#2 Leave radio's and tape players at home. At drive-in camping sites, never open car doors with music playing.
#3 Always choose sites that won't be damaged by your stay
#4 Never litter. Never. Or you become the enemy of all others.
#5 No whining: Nothing is more irritating than being around a whiner.
#6 Think of the other guy. Be self aware rather than self absorbed."

He has a ton more in there and I think they are all good advice.

Yep, that's a good addition to the Wheeler Pledge.
