A poll with nothing skewed or spiteful.
You can make multiple choices.

What's with all the anti-gun attitude?
Just trying to show that there are more uses for a gun than shooting a person.

I still think that a gun has one purpose: kill something.
Hunting: kill animals
Self Defense: kill humans
Competitive Shooting: kill steel targets
Casual Plinking: kill aluminum cans
Collector: kill pocketbook
Whether it's right or wrong, you should not use a gun for anything but killing. You would not be advised to cut a box open or hammer a nail in with your gun, even though you can.

If I kill something with the Bayonet at the end of my rifle, Did I kill it with a Gun? Don't forget Bows and Arrows too!! :flipoff2:

If you don't want any other topics discussed, Chit-Chat needs to be pulled off the site.
I've had to use my shotgun as a boat paddle after our motor went ka-ka and the goof who owned the boat only had one oar while we were duck hunting.
How many times has a gun shot been used for a signal? Lost hunters and hikers use them to help the people searching for them find them.
How do you "kill" an inanimate object?

Get over it. There are a few topics, guns, religon, abortion, etc that get hashed over frequently here in Chit-chat.... Tired of it? Don't read the thread.
Now, where is the more then one of the above choice? :flipoff2:
And you can't KILL inanimate objects. :D

Thanks for deciding what should be done around here

Shoulda killed the guy, and taken the oar. A single person in a boat with a single oar can row just fine. And it would have fit into the "guns are cool" trend we've fallen into lately here

If the forum was called "We can chit-chat about everything, but guns", so be it. But I don't see any rules censoring this topic.

Paddling from a sandbar in the river wasn't exactly a one man job. I guess I could have said, "Go ahead, I'll just enjoy the ride."
You cannot kill something that isn't living, need a refresher in biology? Go see what the definition of "kill" is, I don't think you'll find it to apply to anything without a pulse.

I thought you had me on ignore? "cardboardshooter" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I started this thread to see what kind of gun owners we had in here not to start a flame war with the various trolls in here that don't approve of the use much less ownership of guns.

Since I own a couple of shotguns, two rifles, and 4 pistols, and use them, I guess my opinion in here is worth more than everyone elses.

I wasn't referring to just this thread. It's fine by me if you don't like guns but where does the bashing of those of us that own them come in?
Guns aren't evil.
Legal gun owners aren't evil.
There are sporting uses for firearms, they are not just for defense or offense. It amazes me that a lot of people think that just because you own guns that you are looking to kill.
I guess for those of us that own guns it is hard to fathom how we are making up for any shortcomings in rest of our lives or how we are evil.
The argument could be made for guys that run big tires and built motors, mega-horsepower or big tires means you have a small pee-pee, but there are some of us that understand that that is their thing. I'm not ever going to build a rig like that, but I'm not going to flame someone that feels the need to have that parked in their garage.
Shooting is just as much a test of skill and equipment as wheeling, but it is a little more apt to lay the blame on person as the faulty part. If you haven't ever been to a competitive shooting match you might try watching one and seeing what it is all about and how our evil guns are used.
If me going out shooting cardboard and steel targets on the weekends with my guns makes me wrong, I'll be more than happy to stay wrong.
Edit: I don't carry a gun everyday, but when I go to the city or help out my buddy delivering glass and have to carry around 7 or 8 grand by myself at 2am you can bet I'll be carrying a weapon and it won't be a baseball bat.

Since the poll won't let me vote and I keep getting this message "The action you have attempted could not be performed as your session appears to be invalid. Click the below link to attempt this action again with a new session." I'll just voice my opinion in writing. I own guns for several reasons 1) Its my right guaranteed by the second ammendment 2) I like to hunt and enjoy eating the things I do hunt 3) I carry for personal Defense, do I go looking for people to kill? NO. Do I carry because I have a small penis? NO. In my occupation over the last few years I have made multiple enemies, none of which I plan to let take me down. 4) I shoot weekly with my sister's fiancee who is in the police academy. 5) Someday maybe the guns that I own will actually be wrth a little more than I paid for them. Do I care what the anti-gun Nazis think of me? NO. "They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead fingers"

Unfortunate that ArKansas is not only the state that cannot make up an original name, but it apparently doesn't teach sarcasm in thier grade schools (you did make it that far, right?)
Also, NOWHERE in this thread did ANYONE not "approve of the use much less ownership of guns".
Get it straight noob. There are three kind of people in the world.
People who think gun ownership is wrong
People who think guns are a part of daily life
People who realize that there is more to life than shooting, but don't really give a flying fuck is their neighbor has one or a thousand guns, as long as their stray bullets don't pierce anyone elses house.
And, going back to my original post, I would not recommend using a gun for anythnig but killing something. Using it as a makeshift oar means that you (1) don't really care about your guns and (2) should have spent the 30 seconds to make sure you were properly prepared before heading out with a fool, an oar, and a gun
Seems to me that you were as much of a screwup as you friend. Just cause he's behind the wheel of the rig, means you don't have to check that it has 4 tires?

Sounds to me that someone has a slight inferiority complex and needs a big gun to make up for his inadequacies. Oh, I'm with you and TonyN re: the strays.

But you're a dirty, cheap, cheatin' bastard when it comes to bum hunting. The entire point is not the kill: It's the thrill of the stalk as you creep in close.
Personally, I find the big-buck boys with the carbon-fiber and Ti hammers irittating: To keep true to the sport's roots, one must fabricate your own hammer. See below:

All of the above except I’m not a “collector” for the purpose of collecting. Every firearm I own – I shoot.
cardboardkiller
07-14-2003, 02:08 PM
I threw that in because some people find some guns that maybe their dad or grandfather had, they won't ever shoot but hold onto for sentimental reasons. I got over the collecting thing a long time ago, and all I have left are things that I use.
When my grandfather passes I'll keep his guns but I'm not buying anything for my own collection that I won't use.

Man, you gotta get with the times. They have started making triple wides, I'd hate to see what it takes to set one up.
I think I'll stick to living in something with a foundation and that wasn't rolled in on wheels. I don't think I could find suitable tires for the roof if I did live in a trailer anyway.
I own a MAC 11, a TEC-DC9, a Mossberg 500 (with pistol grips and 18-1/2" barrel), a Browning semi-auto 12 ga., a Marlin 880, a Savage Arms Model 187, and an Interarms .30-06. Some are for hunting, some for plinking, and some are for killing people.
I couldn't effectively hunt with a MAC 11 or a pistol gripped shotgun. I don't pretend that's what they're for. I have them "just in case". I make an effort to fire them when I have time and they stay safe in my house otherwise. I will most likely never need to use them but you never know.
The .30-06 and Browning 12 ga. are hunting weapons. When I have time (see a recurring problem?:p ) I'll take them out. I'd like to get my first deer this coming season (I'm new to hunting). Maybe next year I can get an elk on CO.
My local pistol range allows me to fire "anything that takes pistol ammo, any configuration", which means my MAC 11 and TEC 9. I could never do that back home in CT. Gotta love that about SC. :D
I don't care if others don't want to own guns but I have a Constitutionally protected right to and I refuse to give that up. Giving up your guns is giving up all your other rights too since you have no way to defend them. The 2nd Amendment was written to protect us from oppressive government above all else, not so we could all go hunting.
I have a little fear of our government but a bigger fear of criminals and terrorism. I want to be prepared for any of it.
