I have a C1500 that had a 4.3 in it. I have built a 5.7 and am having a heck of a time getting the damn thing to bolt up. I bought the motor mounts for this truck with a 5.7. The problem is the cradles that bolt to the engine block arent lining up. I called a stealership and They say there is a bracket and a mount on the chassis and the block. Any place on the web to get part numbers, or look at a parts break down? I really need to get this figured out as this will be my DD and part time Tow rig!!!

HEEEEEELPPP  :(

u know that the 350 motor mounts (which are basically the same i would think as the 4.3 mount that year) aren't going to bolt to the same spot on the frame as the 4.3 mounts.. the 350 mounts are going to need to be farther forward.. i'm not sure i understand your question, but is this the problem??

ok, i read your post again and it's still unclear.. see if any of this helps..

you can't swap in a 350 in place of a 4.3 because the motor mounts won't line up

i would think that you could have reused all the 4.3 mounts and just moved the placement up the frame towards the front of the truck..

mount the whole mounts to the 350 and not the frame.. lower it down until the frame part of the mount hits and see if there are holes there.. if not, drill some and use bolts, or weld 'em in..

Just did this 2 days ago, but on a little older truck. Should be the same though. The motor stands, I think taht's what they are called, are different between the 350 and 4.3. We took the stands out of a truck that originally had a 350 and bolted them in, holes were already there, easy. Bought new 350 motor mounts, not the same as 4.3, and everything went in fine. Well, except the tranny but that's because we changed to a different tranny. Hopefully that helped, but if not ask again!!

Just get the cradles from a junkyard off a chevy with a sb and you are done from what I understand. There is no bracket on the chassis unless its the one rivited which looks like part of the crossmember. The motor mount bolts directly to that piece. The mount sits in the "cradle" which you need. Only other bracket is the one that attaches to the support rods which go to some 700r4s. Most trucks dont have those from my understanding.

Im telling you it is not a "find a sbc cradle and bolt it up" situation. I did that and it isnt even close, maybe an inch off. I bought the brand new mm that are for an 89 C1500 with a 5.7, I got a set of JY SBC engine cradles that bolt to the block, then dropped it down and no dice. Im to the point now were Im about to booty fab this son-ofa whore bolt the mm's to the cradle on the block drop it in there and weld the fawkers.

I finally found someone that knew EXACTLY what the F I was dealing with. Seems the cradles that bolt to the block are diffrent from other SBC cradles. So Im heading to the JY tommorow to see if I can scam a set for a 2wd with a SBC in it.

just figured Id leave and answer to anyone that may hit this problem down the road sometime. :D
