I am a newbie to this forum, so i apoligize if there is a string on this subject already.

I recently purchased a 2000 Discovery Series II. I want to replace the brush guard Discovery bumper that is on it. I am looking at an ARB bumper but have heard rumblings of Rovertym as being the bumper of choice for a Discovery.

Any comments? Suggestions on best places to buy online?

Thanks for assistance.

Shaggy:
I have an ARB on my Disco I. While it is certainly better than what I had, it does act as a bulldozer in the front-quite often (Like a coupla weeks ago, right Ali, Alex?).

The Rovertym does not destroy your approach angle nearly as much and is built every bit as well, if not better.

I got my ARB from Nathan Crabtree at Discount Rovers, 1-502-8rovers. Expect shipping to be expensive any way you go.

Peace,
Paul

Thanks Paul.

I had read on a forum about some problems with ARB and the crush cans for the airbags on the discovery. I really like the ARB's but I don't want the stupid airbags deploying if I tap something or use the winch to pull someone else out, etc.... Anyone else have any info on the airbag situation?

LOL-just wait, the air bags will quit working soon enough.

I haven't had ABS, nor Air Bags for 70k+ miles and have no need for either.

I do wear my seat belts (almost-hey, I'm human :flipoff2: ) all the time and haven't had a crash since 1998-long story.

One thing to be aware of about ARB bumpers, they apparently come in variations on the theme as mine does not have the jacking points, but has two hi-lift mounting tabs on the top. Some have only one tab, some have the jacking points, some don't have the winch mount, blah, blah, blah. All depends on why you want it.

You may want to check out Aedofab. I have one on my DI and am very pleased with the approach angle and strength.
