I am planning on swapping out my 1/2 ton running gear with 3/4 ton and am wondering about the driveshaft. I have searched, and found some saying the driveshaft is fine, others say it needs to be shortened. I am also planning on lifting my truck either 4 or 6 inches. If I go with the six inch lift, will my driveshaft work? Thanks in advance.

Don't know the answer to that, but keep in mind the u-joint yoke will be different.

Yeah, I plan on buying a conversion u-joint to fix that. Possibly changing the output on the t-case later on.

The number I've heard is that the 14b is 5/8" longer than the half ton stuff- Meaning your drive shaft will be 5/8" shorter.

If you have 10 bolts and factory original drive shafts(1330 yoke), the conversion joint you need is part #447 from Napa internal c-clips to hold the u-joint cap in.

If you have 12 bolts(1310 yokes) and factory original drive shafts, it's #348 from Napa. External clips to hold in the caps.

I know that Spicer makes the conversion joints as well, but I can't find my book with the info....:D

If you from a 10bolt to a 14bolt at the same time as a 6" suspesion lift is done the rear shaft will be the correct length. You should take measurements to be safe.

I will take measurements when I begin the swap. Thanks for all the help!
