First off, I have a 1978 K5 Steering Column.

I am taking out my key switch, and want to make it into a toggle on/off/accesory, and a push to start button.

My question is, Has anyone done this, or what wires do I need to hook to the toggle switch to make this work?

Thanks

Get a manual and find your start wire. Older chevys were purple. Put that on your start switch.
Find your run wire. Might be yellow. Put that on your "on" switch. For HEI I think the wire going to the distributor will be the wire you need to find for the on switch. I helped a guy wire his truck like this but my memory is foggy.
Like I said, get a manul with good schematics. It will help the most.

There is 9 wires to the ignition box, I have a service manual with good schematics, but I am thinking I am going to have to enlist the help of someone with electrical background on this one, I just don't know if this is in my ballpark, but I am in the right parking lot. thanks.
