I installed Tom Wood SYE kit (JB version). About 700 mi. later loud knocking sound appeared. this was on the Wed. before Turkey day. 600 mi. from home:mad: :mad3: :mad3: after a full clutch and throw out bearing, pilot bearing replacement the noise was still there:mad3: :nuke: towed it home with the xj(awsome job by the xj). pulled the rear drive shaft and drove down the road with the front drive shaft only and no noise. called tom wood and concluded tat the CV joint was bad. Cudos to Tom his is shiping a new one without any ?'s. just wanted to pass on the good experiance.:D

I'm hearing an awful ot of negatives about his parts. yeah he may cover them, but that doesn't help get you off the trail and home.

Glad to hear you had good customer service on questionable parts........ mine as well get a spare on the way only 700 miles before the next scheduled replacement..... :D
I was also offered a warranty by him on a 1310 CV joint running at 22 degrees behind a 400 hp motor and 38's...... I don't think so, I would prefer buy a part that will get me home without a warranty than crap with a guarantee...
But this is just my opinion..............

I know what you mean Adam.. one minuite your going to get some milk, 4-5 hours later your calling your buddy cause you got it stuck in a 4ft deep mudhole, that moments ago was a fish pond..
Some things are just too perfect to pass up.

Tom uses Spicer CV joints. IMO, Spicer's been up there in terms of quality, but I suppose everyone gets some bum parts from time to time.

sure they are spicer, but are they new? he probably sand blasted an old one, threw it together, and gave it a purdy new black paint job. I've seen it done.
and whats wrong with all you fawkers that think you need to ship a driveline a thousand miles cause you don't think a local shop will do. I'd go local if I were you then if you have any problems, you take it back and personally shove the thing up their anal cavity.
