Was wondering what you guys think about the gearless locker compared to the ez-locker or the lockright in the dana 30. I'm only running 33sx with a straight 6 so power is not really a problem, so if you can tell me the good and bad points I'd really appreaciate it, I can buy one for $200 brand new so I thought it would be a good deal, but if it's junk then F :flipoff2: :flipoff2: k it!!!

I don't know about the gearless locker but from what I understand anything for 200 bux is probably gonna suck. I have heard of the gearless lockers but never payed any attention to them. I am not positive, but I am willing to bet that its limited slip. A locker using a clutch, which isn't a locker.

I've heard the gearless lockers are piles of shit.. I herd that people were having problems with them blowing up and in affect taking out ring and pinions. Between the EZ and the lockrite id have to say lockrite. Keep in mind There both cheapy lockers.

Don't know anything about gearless lockers but I got my lockrite brand new for $225, you should look into one of those, no complaints here.

i have a EZ Locker in my front dana 30 and welded AMC 20...i baught the axles with the lockers already in them but if i hadnt i would have welded the front up...i can put my jeep in 2 Lo so it wouldnt really matter. however if welding is not an option for you i say EZ Locker or lockrite would be a good investment. i have 35" BFG's and have not had a problem with it at all

I have done quite a bit of research and it seems the one with the best rating in the $200-300 range is the Lock Rite. The EZ locker is a close second and is a few bucks more than the LR. I have heard a lot of horror stories about the gearless so I would try to avoid it. Here is a write up about one that went bad.

When I get one I will buy the Lock Rite as it has a good rep and I can get one new for $223 from Central4wd.
There is also the Powertrax No-Slip which is similar to a Lock Rite but has some added parts to make it a little less harsh. In my opinion, harshness is not a consideration in the front so that locker would be better suited as a low cost unit for the rear. Cost is just under $400.
Good Luck.

thanks guys after hearing what you guys said I think I'll just go with the lock-right for just a little more money. I just though it amy be a good deal because these gearless lockers run about $300 and that would be saving a $100. Thanks again everyone Matt

Be sure to look around the for sale boards too, I found my front lockright on the for sale board here, bought it from putzboy :) Still working fine!
Paid 150 bucks for it.

i dont know what kind of vehicle you have, but i have several friends with YJ's that bought lockrites for the rear. everytime they turned or did anything on the street the locker would lock and unlock. it sounded like the rear end was about to expload on em. all the jeeps were standards so this might have had something to do with it. one particular friend pulled hers out and only used a front locker til she recently upgraded to a ford 9"
i dont know if the problem is related to lockrites or if it is cause of the standard or if maybe its cause of that badass dana 35C(:flipoff2: ). i personally would go with the Cheesey locker...ughhh...i mean EZ locker.

I hve an 84 CJ-7 with a 258,4-speed. As far as turning(corners) on the the street it is pretty common for the locker to pop and chirp the tires. confused: Anyways this is going into the front so none of this would even be a problem. Thanks for the input!! :smokin::confused:
