I have read where the intake coolant leak in 96 and later Vortec engines is a common problem. Leaks are common at the quick coupler which is poorly designed?
My Bro in Law has the symptoms on a 99 Burban , coolant leaking around the intake manifold where the funky mis- engineereed pot metal quick coupler is the culprit. (The metal end pre bent coolant line where it goes into the intake).
Has anyone changed these out.. > perhaps to a better solution?
I am thinking this coupler is going to pop right off and leave the threads in the intake because of corrosion. The couple takes a 1 1/16 socket and I know it will break.
Anyone had a simialr problem and how did your fix go ?
Can it be done without re-tapping the threads?

Thanks

Looking at changing it out in the AM.

i change these out all the time,i keep an easy out and tap in the drawer with the new couplers. you could switch it over to a nipple with a hose clamped hose.

maybe one out of 40. it generally snaps off when you try to take the hose off.

There is a thread somewhere in this Chevy section on this. I believe it is 1/2 NPT.
