My buddie wants to put a flatbed on his 79 chevy, where is the best place to buy a custom flatbed? Or even have one made in nor cal area? How many inches can you shorten the rear of the frame on a 79 shortbed? searched but got no info.

theres site on the net that I found the other day but cant remeber it.
I think almost any welding shop would be willing to make a bed to you and your buddies specs. but its almost worth the cost in a welder and fab equipment to do it yourself. so you get what you want

Hey no problem. I know that sometimes people don't want to invest in all the equipment. I have even found that for me with my fab shop it is still easyer to buy things sometimes.

Depends on what you want. Square or round and how complex. If you have a picture of something you like e-mail it to me.

steel horse,
Ill get you some figures if you want, might got through redkneck with my own ideas to do it. I have know idea what something like that would go for, but I do know that it also depends alot on what kinda materials like he said, tubeing, channel. angle alittle of everything. then the demisions of the materials. bigger in most cases means more mulah. I dont mean the actual bed size bigger the measuerments of the channel or tubing, how thick wide. la la. I like talking fabbing stuff and just so happens Im getn ready to do mine, so Im chatery about this stuff right now.

not to step on any toes here...but i also do stuff like that. i built the bed on my nissan and have several compliments on it. i agree, even with all my fab stuff, sometimes it's still easier/cheaper to buy some of the one time things...
