okay... lifted the blazer via body lift (for now... suspension is later). had to lengthen the shaft that shifts the tranny (auto tranny, column shifter). now the reverse lights come on in neutral, and not reverse. i'm assuming that the sensor that triggers the lights is in the column, or at least associated w/ the shifter position, and not necessarily the tranny's position. if this assumption is correct, then the problem can be fixed via further adjustments to the shaft position, right? it got late, and dark, and i came inside before finishing this last lil tidbit of work, and i wanted to make sure that i was right in assuming that i just need to adj. the shaft. any input? corrections to my assumptions? etc...

TIA!

Yeah the trigger is in the column. I think it is not to hard to adjust in the column but you can do it by adjusting the shaft also.

First get the rod going to the tranny adjusted so the detents/position in the column match what gear the tranny is in. Then if the reverse light and ignition safety switch (I think they are both in the same spot for all columns in those years) can be adjusted down at the firewall on the inside of the cab. The adjustment is a plastic piece located on the top of the column aginst the firewall that rotates 30 degrees or so arount the column.

allright... that's what the instructions that i never read say as well. gotta snag some not-so-dog-gone-hot time to go adjust it.

thanks for the input!

After you get everything adjusted and your reverse switch is happy, your shift indicator might not line up exactly right. There's an adjustment for that too. Find the little cable attached to the column just back from where the shift handle attaches. You might need to pull the gauge bezel to access it. Just loosen the little clamp and slide it to whatever makes the indicator line up.

Pasco.... yeah, I bet it's as hot as balls there right now.
:D It's pretty hot over on the west side of the mtns too.
