I have a '90 sub 60/14 on 35's. Going to go bigger when cash is less of an issue, but my problem is that my rear driveline is prone to getting wasted on rocks. Was thinking of maybe a toyo fix, with a CV and a two piece drive line. Wondering if any of you have done it or what your solutions have been.

Are you talking about geting rid of the slip yoke on the transfercase and puting it in the drive line? Or are you talking about puting a carear bearing in the middle of the drive shaft so you would get a steeper/shorter shaft to your rear axle?

Talk to Steve @ southbay drivelines. He may be able to give you some input. By the way where are you located in Santa Clara?

Im not positive how its done on the toyotas, but Im thinking that I could run from the T-case straight along the frame to a point further back where with a CV joint I can make the angle down to the rear diff. The thought is that this way I wouldn't have my driveline so exposed when Im climbing rocks.
Redneck Im behind the Kragen at Scott and El Camino. Where are you at?

My 96 crew cab long bed has a 2 piece shaft from the factory. 30 or so inch long first shaft to the mid-ship carrier bearing then another shaft down to the axle. Works really well at keeping the rear shaft up and out of the way... Just go to the junkyard and get the parts out of a longer truck and get the shafts made to the length you need.
Here is a pic:

Top shaft comes from the fixed yoke output of the 4401 and the other end is the splined end of the slip with the carrier bearing. Then the long shaft has the female slip on it and the yoke for the axle.

A two piece driveline should help. I live near Saratoga and Scott. I drive a bright green Yota with a exo. By the way if are are going to get a new drivline give me a call. I can get some good prices. My number is at the blue devil web site.

Thanks willy, thats exactly what Im thinking. Looks like a trip to the junkyard.
Redneck, Ill have to look you up. If you see a beat up silver/black sub with a rear tire/ highlift carrier bumber, flag me down. Im always cruzin up and down scott to get to the freeway. Will get a hold of you for those drivelines though.
