Sorry if this is a newby question, and im not a complete dumb ass.

I've got a 67 Chevy pickup and I want to turn my 6" kit into 8".

In the front I want to lift with a shackle how much longer does the shackle need to be to lift it 2" at least? Is it just 2 inches longer?

Or is it not possible to lift the front end of a Chevy with shackle?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Shackles only go so far when trying to get lift. Because you are not droping the other end of the spring, you are really only pivition the spring around the bolt at the other end. Because of this, I would set the limit at about 1.5" of lift. For that much lift, the shackle needs to be 3" longer. If you get any longer, not only will it look goofy, but things could get unstable due to the added leverage added from placing the spring so far away from the frame.

Not only that, but whenever you change the shackle length, you change the caster angle that is built into the axle. That causes odd handling, and the return-to-center feel in the steering is diminished. You could, however, address this by adding an angled shim to the spring packs, thereby putting your caster angle closer to stock.
