i gotta change the real t-case seal (203 'case) cuz i't leakin and mom's complainin. 1 1/8 socket won't fit the yoke nut (too small) and a 1/4 is too big to fit into the hole that the nut resides in. anyone know (for sure) what size this nut is before i grind on the 1/4 and it ends up being wrong size?
thanks!!

Cant you measure it with a caliper or something? Shit maybe even a measuring tape. That should give you a ballpark figure. Besides it is kinda half ass but with those huge nuts you usually have to be off by 2 sizes for the socket to not work.

i don't have a caliper (yeah, i know... should have one, but oh well... i don't) and i dunno that i could fit a tape down in there... i don't wanna half-ass it and grind the hell out of a 20 dollar socket and have it be too small or something... all i know is that the 1 1/8 is too small, and i can't tell what does fit it.
i'll try to get a tape in there and check it out... was just trying to see if anyone on here knew off the to of their heads.
thanks!

anyone know off the top of their heads? will sears hassle me over a ground-up socket? i'll just grind the hell outta the one i've got now if they'll smile and gimme a new one, if it doesn't work... well, they don't have to smile i guess... so long as they gimme a new one
thanks

yeah... crossed my mind. didn't have one in teh toolbox. i'm lazy, (or smart... depending on how you look at it) and figured i'd hop on the truck websites and see if i needed to hit the store or start grinding. from the looks of things w/ the 1 1/8, the 3/16 won't fit anyway...
the nut is 1 5/16
take it to a machine shop and have them mill ~.25" off the socket. they are ususally 3/4 drive so get a 1/2-->3/4 adapter while you are at it.

just a thought, anyone know off hand what the hub nut size is on a dana 60 rearend? it's right around that size I beleive. they make a socket for it that's stamped steel, nice and thin, might work?
