Run a scan disk, under accessories, sys tools, scan disk.
Then defrag hard drive,
the upgrade to xp

Did you recently install any software that integrated itself with your Explorer browser?

This would include pop up ads that you click to (what you think is close) but instead down load. Often called tool bar optimizers.

It sounds like some add on software has screwed with your toolbars for explorer. Easiest thing would be uninstall explorer and reinstall it fresh off the ME disk.

Mabye someone else has a better idea here?

Websits that have illegal software downloads, or porno websites have these popups, the fukin' suck!

Look on the web browser tool bar for any icons you might not recognize and find out what the program the icon belongs to then uninstall that program.

If you get an error when you open Iexplorer, then how are you making posts? Is it Via Netscape?

Download Adaware and run it. If it's a program that has attached a toolbar to IE, it will find it and help eliminate it. You can also get spybot and use it to help eliminate things.

AdAware should have removed stoolbar.dll

Constantly changing. May be detected and deleted by Adaware, Spybot or BHODemon

Causes various errors, including:

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module STOOLBAR.DLL

The files used by Huntbar are changing constantly and it has a built in auto-update feature.

It may appear in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs under various names including "Internet 404", "Tools for Internet Explorer, "MSIETS", "Search Toolbar". If removed using Control Panel ensure you clean up your system or it may reinstall.

At last site update the following files were implicated:

msiets.dll

msielink.dll

btlink.dll

msiein.dll

btiein.dll

stoolbar.dll

Removal instructions can be found at the URL below:

when you get errors like that (and you have some access to the web) its a good idea to google the file that's giving you trouble to see what it is/why it's there and if its safe to get rid of it. I did it the first reslult was this... (http://www.the-it-mercenary.com/forums/Windows98/posts/1365.html) hope it helps.
